I love the new DMC and i’m itching to try the Vergil DLC.. my main problem with the game was I thought they took too many liberties with his character traits; but that’s more an issue with his established character from the earlier games.

Most people I know gave this game a try and loved it, as a hard core fan the game was never really aimed at me but the people who never played or wouldn’t have played the original games so in that respect I think the reboot does it’s job well getting Devil May Cry into more hands then another sequel would have

Great review! I’ve only played the demo for DMC, but from the demo alone I was tempted to shell out $60 for a game in a series I’ve never even played before. The combat and aforementioned platforming segments are a rush (especially when the city itself is trying to kill you). I’ll definitely be playing the first four before I get this one, but I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

It’s definatly worth playing the original games if you haven’t before, however they are a lot harder and don’t pull as any punches as much as DMC does. It’s worth noting that if your interested in the story and not gameplay the chronological order of the original games is 3,1,4,2.. though if you wan’t to see how the game evolved from a potential resident evil 4 to what is it now play them in numerical order

Hmmm I’ll probably play them in the order they came out. That way I can experience them the way everyone else did.

I’d definitely recommend checking them out. You can get the first three DMCs at once by picking up the Devil May Cry HD Collection; I’ve seen it used for $20 at Gamestop.

And also, yes, be prepared for some infuriating game play. Except for DMC2; they nerfed the difficulty in that one.

When will developers learn that lowering the difficulty of games only makes us angry? It makes the game more accessible to more casual players, but we suffer in the end. If they EVER nerf the difficulty in the Dark Souls series I’ll die a little on the inside.
