With a world full of war, demigods, magic and a battle for survival, the latest edition of the Final Fantasy series tells the story of a group of heroic outcasts. With a strong hold of realism in an otherwise surreal world, Final Fantasy XIII-2 tends to several details that make playing this game a unique and realistic experience. Filled with good looking heroes made of steel and pure heart, the newest edition in the Final Fantasy series guarantees a fair dosage of strange monsters and unique allies.
If you are not aware of the Final Fantasy franchise, it is best to start with Final Fantasy VII and work your way through to the latest version. Guaranteed to be some of the grandest adventures in the world of gaming, the latest version of the epic series comes off as a great improvement from its predecessor. Loyal fans of the game series are already aware of the formula applied to all Final Fantasy games. Like its predecessors, this Japanese RPG cleverly illustrates the grim situations of a world faced with potential destruction.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 promises a better gaming experience in the new edition as the battle style took a realistic turn during the introduction of the game. The heroine of the game, Lightning, is shown fighting an intense battle with a dark knight and disappears shortly after. Final Fantasy XIII-2 follows the quest of Serah, Lightning’s sister and a newly introduced character Noel. Attempting to restore damaged memories and find Lightning, Serah aims to solve the mysteries surrounding the numerous strange occurrences affecting the recuperating world.
Interestingly, Final Fantasy XIII-2 mainly revolves around bending the rules of time and space. Players can choose from a wide range of options when it comes to time travel. Finding several time portals in different locations of the game, each gate makes way for more portals. Players can choose to close, open and undo all actions in any gate, allowing them to choose the way the plot is unraveled.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 offers much more flexibility when it comes to exploring different environments. Packed with secrets, twists and turns to the story, the first fifteen minutes of Final Fantasy XIII-2 reveal more about the environment than over five hours of play in the original game.
Offering unparalleled flexibility, the mechanics of exploration and time travel provide a variety of choices to the player. One of the features that puts the player in control of the game includes the Live Trigger. Allowing the player to choose between four different actions, this feature lets you control the direction of the plot.
The battle style in Final Fantasy XIII-2 remains the same. Focusing more on a tactical, slow and intelligent style of combat, the Final Fantasy series is not for those who prefer to mindlessly blow up opponents. A major addition to the new game is the introduction of monster allies. Different monsters possess different abilities and can be recruited into the player’s team if defeated.
